Siderise Fire, Thermal & Acoustic Solutions

Fire, thermal and acoustic solutions from the UK’s leading manufacturer of firestop and acoustic barrier systems for the curtain walling industry, with over 25 years in the field, now supplied across Kerala by Quadrant Specialities.

Engineered answers to facade fire, thermal and acoustic problems

SIDERISE is a market leader in specialist fire, thermal and acoustic solutions for the construction industry. With over 50 years of experience, they’ve built high-performance firestopping products for floor and wall compartmentation as well as external facade assemblies.

Their facade team works closely with architects, facade contractors and installers to engineer solutions, and Quadrant Specialities supplies the Siderise range in Kerala for facade and curtain-wall compartmentation projects, from early specification right through to on-site installation support.

Thermal barrier systems engineered for curtain walling and facade build-ups.

Acoustic

Acoustic barrier systems that close the sound path through facade voids and cavities.

What we supply

The product range

Siderise builds compartmentation solutions around where the fire, heat or sound path actually runs: through cavities, joints and voids in the facade, rather than the wall itself. This distinction matters more than it might first seem. A standard wall or floor slab is usually built to resist fire on its own, but a rainscreen or curtain wall facade introduces something the original structure never accounted for: a continuous air gap running the full height of the building, often behind the cladding, tucked at every floor line and window head.

Without a barrier in that gap, fire doesn’t need to burn through a wall at all. It travels upward through the cavity itself, feeding on the airflow the cavity was designed to provide for ventilation and drainage, and can reach the floor above in a fraction of the time it would take to breach solid construction. The same voids that let heat and smoke race upward also let sound leak sideways between rooms and airborne noise slip through gaps most people never think to check.

That’s the gap Siderise is built to close. Rather than reinforcing the wall itself, their cavity barriers, curtain wall firestops and acoustic void barriers are engineered to sit exactly where the risk actually is, sealing the path before it becomes a problem, while still allowing the facade to breathe, drain and move the way it was designed to.

Cavity barriers for rainscreen

Horizontal and vertical fire barriers for rainscreen cladding cavities. Horizontal barriers can incorporate up to 50mm of continuous ventilated air space; vertical barriers accommodate cladding movement without losing their fire rating.

Curtain wall firestops

Firestop systems that seal the perimeter gap between curtain wall and floor slab, stopping fire and smoke from tracking floor to floor through the facade line.

Ceiling void barriers

High-performance acoustic barriers for ceiling voids, addressing cross-talk between rooms and delivering room-to-room sound reduction in suspended ceiling systems.

The technology

How the fire seal works

A Siderise cavity barrier does almost nothing for most of its working life, and that’s exactly the point. Sitting inside the cladding cavity, it’s built to be compact and unobtrusive, taking up as little of the ventilated air space as possible so the rainscreen system can still drain and breathe as designed. It’s only when heat arrives that the barrier’s real job begins.

At its core is a layer of intumescent material, which stays inert at normal temperatures but reacts the moment it’s exposed to fire. As the surrounding foam component starts to burn away, the intumescent core expands dramatically, in some cases to many times its original thickness, filling the cavity with a dense char that blocks flame and smoke from passing through. It’s a passive system with no moving parts, no power supply and nothing to maintain, yet it activates reliably exactly when it’s needed.

Compresses, then expands

In a fire, the foam component gradually compresses and is replaced by the expanding mass of intumescent graphite, sealing the cavity shut against flame and smoke.

Stays flexible where it needs to

The seal retains flexibility on the non-fire side, accommodating heat-induced movement of the structural elements without cracking or losing its seal.

Built for real building movement

Vertical cavity barriers are designed to accommodate ongoing cladding movement, so the fire rating holds up over the building’s working life, not just at installation.

Certified performance

Siderise’s curtain walling firestop was the first to market internationally, third-party certified and proven across UK, European, Middle East and Asia-Pacific projects.
