Jotun Marine & Protective Coatings
One of the world’s leading marine & protective coatings, protecting buildings, civil infrastructure, harbours and airports.
What it does
Marine and protective coatings in Kerala from Quadrant Specialities exist for one simple reason: a vessel’s hull or a harbour structure fails long before the steel behind it gives way. Corrosion, biofouling and constant saltwater exposure wear down an unprotected surface within a few seasons, and repainting a ship in dry dock is far more expensive than choosing the right coating system the first time. Our Jotun-supplied range covers vessels, harbours, airports and industrial structures that need to perform for years between maintenance cycles, not just look good on handover day. The range
Primers, topcoats and antifouling systems
Each layer in a Jotun coating system does a different job: the primer bonds to the substrate and resists corrosion, the topcoat holds colour and gloss against UV and weather, and antifouling keeps the hull clean below the waterline. Together they form a system built to outlast a single-coat shortcut.
Epoxy Primer
Jotamastic 80
Built on Jotun’s mastics technology, delivering market-leading anti-corrosive protection along with strong surface tolerance, so it performs even where surface preparation on site isn’t perfect.
Polyurethane Topcoat
HardtopXP
A durable finish coat with strong colour and gloss retention over time, suited to both marine vessels and protective structures that need to hold their appearance under sustained sun and weather exposure.
Antifouling
Sea Force Shield (Dark Red)
An efficient double-biocide antifouling system with low average hull roughness, fit for purpose up to 60 months of service with a 21-day idle guarantee for periods in port.
Antifouling
Sea Force Active (Dark Red)
A triple-biocide antifouling formulated with premium Copper Pyrithione and Hydractive technology, delivering 28 idle days in the first year for vessels that spend extended periods stationary.
Why the system matters
Built to outlast a single season
Corrosion starts under the surface
Steel exposed to saltwater corrodes from the moment protection breaks down, often well before rust becomes visible. A strong primer like Jotamastic 80 is the layer doing the real long-term work, even though it’s the one nobody sees once the topcoat goes on.
Idle days matter as much as sailing days
A vessel sitting in port is still fouling. Sea Force Shield and Sea Force Active are both rated for a guaranteed number of idle days, so hull performance doesn’t quietly degrade every time a ship stops moving.
One system, not mismatched layers
Primer, topcoat and antifouling from the same manufacturer are formulated to work together, reducing the risk of adhesion failure between coats that can happen when products from different systems are mixed on the same surface.
On the water
Trusted on real vessels in Kerala
We supplied the complete Jotun paint system for our customer Nishyjith K. John’s boat, Classic Imperial, a 50-metre, 300-tonne IRS-class luxury tourist vessel operated by Neo Classic Cruises and Tours Pvt. Ltd. with capacity for up to 150 passengers. The job covered the full system from primer through to topcoat and antifouling, a real example of the range above going to work on a vessel right here in Kerala.
Classic Imperial was virtually inaugurated by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on November 29, 2023, and now cruises the backwaters and coastal waters around Kochi as a tourist vessel. A vessel of this scale and profile demands a coating system that holds up under constant sun, salt spray and heavy footfall from passengers, which is exactly the kind of long-term performance our Jotun range is built to deliver.
